It is also important to mark all the circuit breakers in your electric panel of your home to know where they are in case of an emergency so you don’t need to waste much time looking for the right one.

Leaking water heater:

1. Turn of the electricity or gas to the water heater:

Electric water heater: In the electrical panel look for the circuit breaker for the electric water heater and shut it off.

Gas water heater: Gas valve usually has a red handle. For the gas water heater, the gas line would be either yellow or a black pipe. This Pipe connects to the water heater gas valve. Turn the gas valve 90 degrees to shut it off.

2. The cold water line that feeds your heater should be shut off when your water heater is leaking. The valve should be directly above the water heater.

Turn off the main water shut-off valve to the house in case you are not able to figure it out.

Leaking or broken pipe: The main water shut-off vo your house is located near or next to your water meter which needs to be shut off there is a leaking broken pipe is the issue.

Emergency drain cleaningIf the drain is not well plugged and draining at a slower pace, you can try chemical drain cleaning agents to see if it can take care of the issue. You may also try using a plunger to see if you can unclog the drain but if you were not able to take care of the issue it is best to call a professional plumbing company who can take care of the drain cleaning.

Jammed disposal: When disposal is not working first try to push the reset button which is located at the bottom of the disposal and if still does not run. You can try Allen wrench to break loose the item that is causing the jam by inserting the wrench at the bottom of the disposal and moving it both ways and if you are not sure you can do this please call the plumbing company who will fix the issue in no time and get you disposal running like new.

Leaking or running toilet: It could be caused by the flapper if it is not completely seated. If there is a leaking toilet shut off the water under the toilet and call a plumbing company.

Frozen pipes: Another plumbing emergency would be frozen pipes. If you see any damage around the pipes shut off the main water line to the house and call a plumbing company.

Steaming hot water: It hapens when your water heater has over heated then first thing you should do is shut off the electricity or gas to the water heater and call the plumbing company to fix the issue.
