The Bathroom Sink Guide

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Your bathroom is your sanctuary and should reflect your taste and serve your purposes. Alternatively, it might be where you want to surprise your guests with a classy display when they use your facilities. Whether you want a simple and functional sink or something with a little more avant garde style to it, there’s a sink for you. Let’s unpack some of the most popular choices available on the market.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Trough Sinks

These sinks eschew the isolated and singular sink, spreading it out so that more than one person can use the space at a time. Because it looks different, it will stand out and create a bit more of a dynamic feel to your bathroom.

This is less of a downside and more of a fact: if you have a smaller kitchen or limited counter space, a trough sink won’t work for you. You also cut out all of the counter space that usually occupies the space between the sinks, so that’s something else to consider.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9452″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

Vanity Sinks

This is one of the most common styles of sink. For these, the sink is separate from the counter and all of the plumbing is hidden by a cabinet. A vanity sink is meant to be an all in one solution to storage, style, and function. Unless you go for a wild style (and there are quite a few), a vanity sink is a safe option for any bathroom.

Much like the trough sink though, this requires space for the vanity. If you’re working with limited bathroom floor space, other options might fit your needs better.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Wall-Mounted Sinks

Some bathrooms don’t really allow for a full countertop or vanity style sink. In these instances, you still want to have a sink available obviously, but the tight spaces of some apartments or even smaller bathroom additions require a different solution.

Wall mounted sinks don’t offer the same kind of storage options as counter and vanities. However, they do offer great accessibility for users in wheelchairs, and they’re easy to clean because nothing is tucked or hidden away.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Undermount Sinks

These sinks offer a sleek look for your countertop because—as the name would suggest—they are mounted underneath the counter level. This creates fewer creases where daily dirt, hairs, and the like can accumulate, and makes cleaning super easy. A completely flat counter definitely elevates the class of your bathroom without breaking the bank.

One downside is that undermounted sinks tend to be permanently affixed to the counter, so switching one requires switching both.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9453″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

Bowl or Vessel Sinks

These sinks look like bowls that are not attached to the counter they rest on. They stand out because they are another object sitting on the counter as opposed to other sinks that are dropped into the counter or hang free from the wall. There are different shapes, materials, and depths you can look at to match your overall aesthetic for your prep area.

They look fantastic, but their major downside is that they create another space where grime can accumulate. It’s tough to reach under the curve of the bowl where it meets the counter. In addition, between the wall and the sink, usually where the faucet is, creates another difficult situation.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Installing a sink in your bathroom isn’t something that can be easily achieved by the average do-it-yourselfer. Setting up pipes, removing old sinks and counters, and properly installing everything so that it doesn’t leak or put strain on your pipes requires a trained hand.

The Plumbing Works has an expert team that’s ready to discuss your ideas in a consultation, give an estimate, and get your installation underway. Give us a call the next time you’re looking to shake things up in your bathroom.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
