Air Quality 101
How Often Should You Clean Your Air Ducts?
It’s wise to have your air ducts cleaned at least once annually, especially as the seasons change. Your furnace and air conditioner rely on the quality of your ducts. If you suspect that your heating or cooling systems are not working as effectively, it’s time to schedule an air duct cleaning.
Our HVAC contractors will perform an inspection of your ductwork and then carry out a comprehensive cleaning. The process includes scrubbing down all air filters, cleaning vents and grilles on the ground, and even using high powered vacuums on ceiling ducts.
Do You Need to Install a Humidifier?
There are other ways to improve the air in your home or business through a humidifier. This adds humidity to otherwise dry rooms. Why would you want this humidity? A room that is too dry can cause damage to certain surfaces like wood or laminate flooring. There are also health risks involved in rooms that do not have enough humidity: your skin may suffer, your lungs won’t have their full strength, and you may feel sick more often.
What About Dehumidifiers?
You can also opt to add a dehumidifier to other areas of your home or business, although not everyone needs both devices. Finding a balance of humidity is integral to keeping your property and your body healthy. Your home will also smell fresher and even feel fresher because dirty particulates in the air will be sucked out.
A dehumidifier pulls humidity out of rooms in excess of it. Common places involve kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. A dehumidifier will suck the moisture out of the air. This moisture would otherwise cause issues such as mold, and could even lead to skin and breathing problems.
