What are the Benefits of Converting from Oil to Gas?
The most commonly discussed benefit of using natural gas over oil is the lowered cost. Gas is significantly cheaper than oil and has been for a long time. There are a vast amount of natural gas reservoirs that have been located in the U.S. and Canada, providing an oversupply of natural gas that is further glutting the market and putting long term downward pressure on natural gas prices. Gas is going to remain cheap for a long time as a result. Natural gas is also more efficient than oil and therefore costs less to heat the same amount.
If you have oil heating, then you are familiar with having to coordinate deliveries of oil and the monitoring of your oil levels on your property. Furthermore, there are delivery charges to receive your oil, and these deliveries may also require the prepayment of a significant amount of oil.
With a gas heating system, you simply have to sit back and relax because the gas is delivered through a pipe that is maintained by the municipality. As a result, gas is much easier to receive than oil.
Gas is also a more eco-friendly choice over oil. Natural gas is a cleaner burning fuel than oil, and does not need to be transported from halfway across the world and heavily processed the way oil does. Since natural gas burns cleaner, less pollutants escape into the atmosphere. Switching to natural gas further reduces the cost of transportation, as gas is transported using pipelines.
